The leads you're emailing via MailChimp can be automatically detected and tracked in ActiveConversion. ActiveConversion will then know which of your subscribers have clicked through and what they're interested in after that first click.
To do so, you'll need to add UTM tracking codes to any links added to your MailChimp emails. When a subscriber clicks a tracked link in your email, the email address and subject of the email are automatically added to ActiveConversion. The lead is then identified in ActiveConversion for future interactions with your site and marketing campaigns.
If you upload your mailing list in to ActiveConversion (in "Marketing > Emails > Mailing Lists"), ActiveConversion will tie the name, address, and any other lead information from your mailing list to the lead when they are identified.
Adding the tracking code to MailChimp
In order to identify leads from MailChimp, add the tracking code below to the end of each URL in your email that you want to track.
If your link has a ? in it, add this code to the end of your links:
&utm_source=MailChimp&utm_
If your link does not have a ? in it, add this code to the end of your links:
?utm_source=MailChimp&utm_
How does the tracking work?
ActiveConversion will track any link that goes to a page that has ActiveConversion code on it. Usually, all pages on your website will have ActiveConversion's tracking code, and may also include custom landing pages. Links going to someone else's website won't send lead identification information to ActiveConversion.
